The Port Authority of Esmeraldas has initiated an audit to renew its BASC certification, with the objective of verifying compliance with international maritime security standards. The process seeks to strengthen the prevention of illicit activities and maintain the reliability of the foreign trade supply chain.
The evaluation includes a review of the access control protocols, cargo handling, and risk management implemented at the terminal. Furthermore, port authorities have arranged for comprehensive support from administrative and operational areas to facilitate the audit's development and ensure the transparency of the process.
BASC recertification will strengthen the port's position as a secure, efficient, and competitive terminal for international trade. Additionally, it will contribute to reinforcing the confidence of logistics operators and consolidating the security of Ecuador's maritime supply chain.
