The Turkish company Yilport invested a total of USD 11,764,773.70 between January 2025 and February 2026 as part of its investment plan in the terminal it operates in Puerto Bolívar, Ecuador.
Thus, its Ecuadorian subsidiary, YilportEcu, has used this amount to develop a cold storage warehouse, a new terminal entry system (GATES), construction work supervision (APPB), environmental management plan monitoring, a cistern, busbar wiring, scanner implementation, bathymetry and minor works; and in superstructure, in adaptations and accessories for RGT cranes.
Puerto Bolívar Port Authority indicated that the investments made "reflect the fulfillment of contractual obligations to achieve the optimization of the port's operational logistics. This value includes the execution of bathymetries for the maintenance dredging of docks 3, 4, 5, and 6, maneuvering areas, and the access channel that allows the entry of deep-draft vessels and specialized container handling ships."
"Also, the new cold storage warehouse will have 30 chambers for bananas and 2 for shrimp and incorporates efficient insulation technology, controlled access systems, and conditions prepared for solar energy, aligning with sustainability criteria. Its inauguration is scheduled for September of this year," the entity added.
Regarding the new port entry system (gates), it states that it will be implemented to respond to the operational capacity generated by the expansion of yard 11 and dock 6 to ensure an efficient flow of vehicles and cargo; and that its functionalities include facial recognition, automatic license plate and container reading, weighing scales, and integration with X-ray systems. It also mentions the investment made for busbar wiring, which involves the supply and installation of electrical cable for the busbars in yard 11 and 1 simple panel; the inspection, supervision of works, and monitoring of the Environmental Works Plan; as well as the execution of minor works," the APPB complemented.
