Ecuador is advancing its commercial opening strategy through the negotiation of new agreements with Canada and Morocco, aimed at diversifying markets, strengthening exportable offerings, and expanding the country's presence in strategic regions. The process is driven by the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries, as part of an agenda focused on consolidating opportunities for productive sectors linked to international trade.
Negotiations with Morocco contemplate a partial trade agreement that would include strategic products such as flowers, shrimp, bananas, wood, and tuna, in addition to strengthening economic cooperation with a key country in global phosphate production. Simultaneously, Ecuador expects to finalize the signing of a trade agreement with Canada in July, while continuing to advance economic dialogues with South Korea, China, and Spain to expand trade, investment, and connectivity links.
These agreements represent an opportunity to strengthen the competitiveness of Ecuadorian exports and expand access to new markets for agro-industrial, fishing, and maritime products. Likewise, they contribute to boosting logistics and port chains, improving the country's commercial integration, and consolidating Ecuador's presence in the main international trade and investment flows.
