Panama Canal reinforces outreach and surveillance in areas of elevations 100 and 260 of Gatun and Alhajuela lakes

The Panama Canal initiated a phase of community outreach and surveillance in areas of elevations 100 and 260 of Gatun and Alhajuela lakes since March. Personnel from the Environmental Compliance Unit are conducting sessions in communities such as Arenosa, Nuevo Vigía, and Isla Verde, reaching over 350 homes. The objective is to protect human life, community assets, and the quality of water that supplies more than half of the Panamanian population.
