The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), the Port of Antwerp-Bruges International, and the APEC Port Training Centre Antwerp/Flanders signed a new cooperation agreement. The agreement focuses on strengthening maritime transport connections and logistics corridors between the facilities.
Furthermore, the parties will exchange knowledge on port management, efficiency, competitiveness, safety, and environmental protection. The modernization and reconstruction of port infrastructure, including potential investments and public-private partnerships, are also part of the agenda.
Kristof Waterschoot, CEO of Port of Antwerp-Bruges International, commented that "with this agreement, we want to play an active role in shaping the future of Ukrainian ports. By sharing our knowledge and experience, we contribute to reconstruction and future resilience, while also learning from their resilience and their approach in difficult circumstances."
Matthias Diependaele, Flemish Minister-President, stated that "Flanders supports Ukraine not only with words but through concrete cooperation: sharing knowledge, strengthening infrastructure, and creating new economic connections. Ports are more than just commercial links. They are vital for a country that is resisting today and must rebuild tomorrow."
"With this agreement, we make Flemish port expertise available to strengthen the resilience of Ukrainian ports and reinforce Ukraine's connection with Europe and the world," Diependaele affirmed.
