Maersk updates UK import invoicing with EHI charges from August 2026

Maersk updates UK import invoicing by applying Equipment Handling Import (EHI) charges and Inland Campaigns Destination (ICD) adjustments from 31 August 2026.

From 31/08/2026, for all imports with a Bill of Lading service mode of CY (Container Yard), an Equipment Handling Import (EHI) charge (Merchant Haulage) will be applied by default.

If you later choose to arrange inland haulage with Maersk:

You will receive a negative charge of Inland Campaigns Destination (ICD) to cancel out the EHI fee, with Inland Landside Haulage rate being added as standard.

The ICD charge represents the EHI fee already considered and deducts from the total delivery charge amount. This ensures that you are only billed the appropriate total cost for the service provided, without duplication or separate credit note application.

Why we are making this change:

• To ensure EHI charges are applied consistently and correctly.
• To align the timing of EHI invoicing with freight charges.
• To provide greater transparency in how import charges are structured.
• To reduce the need for credit adjustments where delivery plans change.

This change will not impact:

• Shipments with a destination Bill of Lading service mode of SD (Store Door), which will continue to be invoiced with Inland Haulage Import charges.
• Customers with contractual exemptions for Equipment Handling Import.
• Customers with pre-agreed contractual inland rate structures.
