The Port of Tumaco registered the arrival of 21 vessels during the first half of 2026. In terms of cargo, 72,549 tons of hydrocarbons were mobilized and 40,494 tons of palm oil were exported.
According to the General Maritime Directorate (Dimar), these results are the product of articulated work between the Port Authority of Tumaco, the Regional Port Society Tumaco Pacific Port S. A., the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), the Navy, the National Directorate of Taxes and Customs (Dian), and other actors in the maritime-port sector, who have worked in a coordinated manner to guarantee safe conditions for navigation and the continuity of port operations.
Frigate Captain Julián Alejandro Salgado Mesa, Port Captain of Tumaco, stated that "the arrival of vessels and the reactivation of the tuna fleet demonstrate the joint work carried out to offer safe and reliable conditions for navigation and port operations, strengthening maritime activity and contributing to the economic and social development of the region."
The recovery of port activity also reflected benefits for the community, especially for productive sectors such as artisanal fishing, which depend on fuel supply and the continuity of maritime operations.
"We thank the private companies, the Port Society of Tumaco, and the General Maritime Directorate for guaranteeing the fuel supply in the municipality, which allows us fishermen to continue carrying out our fishing activities and provide for our families," said Robin Benítez, an artisanal fisherman from the municipality.
Similarly, the articulation between maritime authorities and the port sector has strengthened security conditions for the development of operations.
In this regard, Arley Silva, Operations Manager of the Tumaco Pacific Port Society, highlighted the permanent support of the Port Authority and assured that operations are carried out under their supervision and direction, guaranteeing greater security conditions for the activity.
