The Port Terminal of Manta (TPM) welcomed the MV BYD CHANGZHOU for the first time, a Car Carrier vessel from the Chinese company BYD, specializing in the transport of new energy vehicles. The arrival of this vessel marks a new milestone for the maritime operations of the Ecuadorian port.
The ship, with a capacity to transport up to 7,000 vehicles, arrived from Mexico and Panama to unload 808 BYD units destined for the domestic market. Samuel Franco, Executive Vice President of TPM, highlighted that this operation reflects the strengthening of the port infrastructure and the terminal's capacity to handle specialized vessels.
The incorporation of new ro-ro (Roll On/Roll Off) operations, a modality for transporting vehicles that enter and exit under their own power, consolidates Manta as a strategic point for regional automotive mobilization. This growth boosts maritime connectivity and expands opportunities for Ecuadorian foreign trade.
