The Manta Port Terminal (TPM) received a car carrier from the company BYD for the first time. The milestone was marked by the vessel BYD Changzhou, 199 meters long and flying the Liberian flag, which is part of the fleet of eight ships directly owned by the Chinese automotive manufacturer.
The vessel docked at TPM's international pier 2, arriving from the Port of Balboa in Panama, to unload 808 new energy units. The car carrier has a capacity to transport up to 7,000 vehicles and is designed to reduce the environmental impact of maritime transport.
"For TPM, receiving this vessel for the first time marks an operational milestone that projects us towards a more sustainable maritime-port future and reinforces the position of the Port of Manta as the leading terminal for car carrier services in Ecuador," highlighted the port operator.
"This important commercial movement reflects the confidence of the importing sector in Ecuadorian ports and in the customs processes we promote to facilitate foreign trade in an agile, safe, and efficient manner," emphasized the National Customs Service of Ecuador.
The next call for the BYD Changzhou will be at the DP World terminal in the Port of San Antonio, Chile, where it will arrive on the morning of next Friday, August 7, according to information available on the maritime monitoring site MarineTraffic. The vessel will remain moored at berth 4-5 until 13:00 on Saturday, August 8.
