The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has advanced in the concession process to develop a gas pipeline for transporting natural gas liquids, after receiving documentation from interested companies. The initiative seeks to expand the Canal's capabilities and respond to changes in international energy trade.
The project involves an estimated investment of between US$4 billion and US$8 billion, in addition to the development of new port terminals that will strengthen logistical infrastructure. The ACP will begin the legal, technical, and financial evaluation of the participants to define the companies that will continue in the process.
The gas pipeline is part of a modernization plan for the Panama Canal aimed at developing new business lines linked to global energy trade. These investments will strengthen maritime connectivity, logistical infrastructure, and Panama's position as a strategic hub for regional trade.
