NYK Christens Eighth Dual-Fuel LPG Carrier at Japan Shipyard
NYK Line christened the Lyla Pathfinder, its eighth dual-fuel LPG carrier, at a ceremony held at Kawasaki Heavy Industries' Sakaide Shipyard on 7 July. The Very Large Gas Carrier measures 229.9 metres in length with a capacity of 86,935 cubic metres and is flagged in Panama. The vessel can operate on LPG or Heavy Fuel Oil and features technology to power onboard generators via the main propeller shaft, reducing diesel consumption. LPG fuel generates 95% lower sulfur oxides and 20% lower greenhouse gases compared to conventional fuels, and the vessel can be adapted to transport ammonia in the future.
