Wallenius Sol acquires Ro-Ro vessels from Royal Wagenborg

Royal Wagenborg announced the sale of its two Ro-Ro vessels, Bothniaborg and Balticborg, to Wallenius Sol, along with a long-term charter agreement with Smurfit Westrock, Europe's largest kraftliner factory, located in Piteå, Sweden. This agreement represents another step in Wagenborg's strategy to focus on its core activities of ice-classed general cargo shipping in the Baltic and continental Europe.

"Bothniaborg and Balticborg have been at the center of a long collaboration with Smurfit Westrock since 2004. Together, we have built and operated a reliable service in a demanding region, so this is a moment we remember with gratitude. At the same time, we are pleased that both vessels have found a new home with Wallenius Sol to continue their journey," stated Egbert Vuursteen, CEO of Royal Wagenborg.

While Ro-Ro operations have played a fundamental role over the years, Wagenborg is confident that Bothniaborg and Balticborg, along with the associated contract, will be in good hands within Wallenius Sol's growing network.

Wallenius Sol's scalable infrastructure and long-term investment commitments provide the ideal platform to further develop these services for the benefit of industrial customers in the Gulf of Bothnia.
