Reuters, citing Turkish maritime agency company Tribeca Shipping reported that three tankers were damaged in a series of drone attacks off the Turkish coast on 28 May. The damage to the vessels is reported to be minimal, with no injuries or pollution reported.
The first incident occurred in the Black Sea, approximately 50 nautical miles off Turkeli on the northern coast of Turkey. The tanker James II was struck by a drone while in ballast condition.
The second incident involved two vessels engaged in a ship-to-ship operation close to the Turkish coast. The vessels, Altura and Velora, were also in ballast condition.
Turkish authorities responded quickly, and coastal boats arrived on the scene to provide assistance.
