The Ecuadorian Navy began the deployment of the missile corvette Loja and the logistics vessel Imbabura to Panama to participate in the multinational exercise Panamax 2026. The operation seeks to strengthen naval cooperation and the protection of strategic maritime routes.
The exercise brings together navies from approximately 18 countries and will allow for the standardization of operational procedures, strengthening interoperability, and developing capabilities to respond to maritime threats and humanitarian assistance operations. Ecuador is participating with nearly 130 crew members and specialized personnel.
Exercise Panamax 2026 represents an opportunity to strengthen regional naval cooperation and optimize a joint response to complex maritime scenarios. Its participation contributes to creating conditions of greater security for maritime operations, commercial connectivity, and international logistics chains.
