TUI River Cruises announced that the TUI Luzia, the first ship built specifically for the brand, was launched at Kladovo Shipyard, Concordia Damen's partner in Serbia, marking a significant milestone in its construction and the first time the ship touched water.
"The launch of the TUI Luzia represents another important milestone for TUI River Cruises and our long-standing partnership with Concordia Damen. As our first purpose-built ship, the TUI Luzia represents an exciting new chapter for our brand. Its arrival on the Douro River in the summer of 2027 will not only expand our offering to one of Europe's most sought-after river cruise destinations but will also provide new experiences for both current and new customers," said Katy Berzins, Director of River Cruises at TUI River Cruises.
Chris Kornet, CEO of Concordia Damen, stated that "we are proud to collaborate with TUI River Cruises on their first purpose-designed river cruise ship, the TUI Luzia. This new vessel reflects our shared ambition to offer innovative and future-proof designs to the European river cruise market. By combining Concordia Damen's engineering expertise with TUI River Cruises' clear vision for brand expansion, we look forward to delivering the vessel that will drive the company's growth."
Scheduled for delivery in June 2027, the unit will spend its inaugural season in Portugal's Douro Valley.
