The Chinese shipyard Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has commenced construction of the sixth 9,000 TEU dual-fuel containership for Pacific International Lines (PIL), following the steel-cutting ceremony for the vessel.
The design of the vessel was independently developed by the manufacturer, specifically taking into account the operational characteristics of the shipping company, reported Imarine.
The vessel has an overall length of approximately 274 meters, a beam of 45.6 meters, and a draft of 24.8 meters. In detail, the containership has a maximum capacity of 9,040 TEU and can transport 1,308 refrigerated containers.
The construction of the vessel will include equipping it with systems such as a high-efficiency main engine, energy-saving devices, a shaft generator, and a high-voltage shore power connection, allowing it to operate with low consumption.
