Cosco Shipping Development placed orders with shipyards located in China to build 24 bulk carrier vessels.
On one hand, the company ordered 15 87,000 DWT multi-purpose bulk carriers from Dalian Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry for a value of USD 705 million, with delivery scheduled between June 2029 and December 2030.
Meanwhile, the other nine vessels were ordered from China State Shipbuilding Corporation for a total of USD 569 million. This part of the order includes five 87,000 DWT multi-purpose bulk carriers, two 211,000 DWT bulk carriers, and two 210,000 DWT dry cargo vessels. These ships will be dispatched between September 2029 and August 2030, as reported by Baird Maritime.
Once the vessels are received, the company expects to offer them for charter to Wai Fung Shipping for a period of 20 years.
