Norwegian Budget Includes Money to Construct World's First Ship Tunnel
Norway's new government budget includes approximately $15.8 million in initial funding to construct the world's first ship tunnel at Stad, reviving the project eight months after it was shelved due to high costs. The tunnel, estimated at $900 million, would span approximately one mile through the Stad peninsula with dimensions of 50 meters high and 36 meters wide, allowing coastal vessels to avoid dangerous waters. Construction is targeted to begin in 2027 if funding is maintained.
