In April 2026, the cargo mobilized by the ports of the Tarapacá Region totaled 1,175,949 tons, which translated into a growth of 49.5% in 12 months, accumulating an increase of 3.2% year-to-date (5,615,471 tons). The data comes from the latest bulletin from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The dynamism of exports was the main positive factor of the month, showing a growth of 63.8% in twelve months. This was followed by imports, which showed a year-on-year increase of 16.7%, followed by cabotage, which showed a positive variation of 58.7% in twelve months.
On the other hand, movements that registered decreases were led by transit to third parties, which reported a negative variation of 12.6% compared to April 2025. Meanwhile, restowage services registered a decrease of 0.5% in twelve months.
In the fourth month of 2026, loading and unloading operations in Tarapacá ports mobilized a total of 1,153,502 tons, showing a growth of 51% in twelve months. With this, the accumulated total for the year reached 5,521,852 tons (+3.3%).
Exports registered the largest movement of the period within this category, displacing 956,782 tons (an increase of 63.8% in twelve months). Meanwhile, imports transferred 107,569 tons, which represented an increase of 16.7%.
For its part, transit to third parties handled 60,901 tons, noting a decrease of 12.6% year-on-year, while cabotage did not register movement during the analysis month, maintaining its accumulated annual level at 108,300 tons.
The cargo mobilized by cargo handling services (corresponding to restowage and transshipments) totaled 22,447 tons, denoting a decrease of 0.5% in twelve months and an accumulated decrease of 5.8% for the year.
Within this segment, restowage activity concentrated the entirety of the movement with 22,447 tons (a decrease of 0.5%). Meanwhile, the transshipment service remained without registering cargo transfers during the analyzed period.
Meanwhile, bulk cargo mobilized in the ports of the Tarapacá region reached 928,829 tons, which meant an increase of 69.7% in twelve months, accumulating an increase of 3.4% in the first four months.
Regarding the movement of other types of cargo, activity in port facilities totaled 247,121 tons, also registering a year-on-year growth of 3.4%.
