Iquique International Terminal (ITI), thanks to the management of Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) and the National Customs Service, has enabled a temporary primary zone at the former Marco Chilena facilities, intended for the storage and dispatch of containers originating from or destined for Bolivia.
The zone has a capacity for over 500 containers and includes terminal staff, operational equipment, and basic services.
"This measure, which has already begun to operate, will help us better face the effects that the social contingency in Bolivia has had on the logistics chain. We have worked collaboratively with EPI, Customs, national and foreign transport organizations, to find solutions that allow us to maintain operational continuity," said ITI Operations Manager, Cristopher López.
The activation of this space will allow for the streamlining of cargo reception and dispatch flows, in a context marked by restrictions on international routes and an increase in operational demand.
"With the progressive unblocking of routes in Bolivia, we project an increase in the flow of trucks to the terminal. Therefore, we have prepared a special plan that will allow us to meet the greater demand from transporters, ensuring efficient and timely service," López added.
