Between January and April, a total of 166 vessels docked at the various facilities of the Port of Motril, consolidating its commercial and logistical activity.
The Azucenas Dock recorded the most calls in this first four-month period, with 42 ships and an associated traffic of 230,000 tons. However, the Contradique dock once again positioned itself as the one with the largest volume of export-import goods, with 393,000 tons handled on 24 ships, mainly related to liquid products.
Following behind are the Dique dock, with 21 ships and 48,000 tons; Poniente, with 12 vessels and 20,000 tons; Costa Ro-Ro, with nine vessels and 5,400 tons; Graneles (Bulk), with seven vessels and 86,000 tons; and Levante Ro-Ro, where 13,000 tons were handled in five calls.
Regarding anchorages, during the first four months of 2026, 28 vessels were counted out of the total of 166 registered ships.
The president of the Motril Port Authority, José García Fuentes, valued these data, highlighting "the operational capacity and versatility of the Port of Motril's docks, which allow it to handle very diverse traffic and respond effectively to the needs of companies and logistics operators."
García Fuentes added that "the strength of the port is reflected both in the high number of calls and in its capacity to move large volumes of goods, especially at strategic docks such as Contradique or Azucenas."
2025 data already showed this growth and specialization trend. During the last year, a total of 882 vessels docked at the Port of Motril, with the Levante Ro-Ro and Costa Ro-Ro docks being the busiest, with 265 and 245 berths respectively, mainly driven by maritime connections with North Africa.
However, in terms of export-import goods volume, the Contradique dock once again led port activity with 1,331,000 tons handled during 2025, primarily liquids.
Likewise, during 2025, 107 ships remained anchored out of the total of 882 that operated in the Port of Motril.
