The Valparaíso Logistics Forum (Folovap) celebrated its twenty-second anniversary during ordinary session N°215, an instance where the electoral process and subsequent presentation of its new Board of Directors also took place. Nelson Ojeda, representative of Terminal Pacífico Sur (TPS); Juan Pablo Bravo, representative of Medlog; and Iván Mateluna, representative of Fedequinta, who will also serve his second term in this position, were elected for the 2026-2028 period.
Joining these elected officials are the president of Folovap and regional director of Valparaíso Customs, Braulio Cubillos; and the vice president Franco Gandolfo, general manager of Puerto Valparaíso.
During the session, a review of the achievements made in more than two decades of work was also carried out, industry challenges were projected, and relevant information was shared regarding the progress of the port expansion project, as well as the recent signing of the extension of the concession contract with Terminal Portuario Valparaíso (TPV), an agreement that extends its operations until December 31, 2029, and ensures the operational continuity of the Espigón.
Braulio Cubillos, regional director of Customs and president of Folovap, highlighted the celebrated milestone and indicated that, currently, for the entity he leads, "the most important challenge has to do with port expansion, with growth, with the project that lies ahead, and how the previous processes have been ordered, in such a way that today we have to think about a larger port and how that increase in infrastructure will have to be coordinated to have a logistics chain that accounts for the requirements that this will have and will need in the future."
In this vein, the elected members committed to ensuring the continuity of the positioning of the city's port and intermodal ecosystem, strengthening the efficiency and competitiveness of the local logistics chain.
Nelson Ojeda, Operations Manager of TPS and new Folovap board member, indicated that as a logistics community "we are full of challenges in the coming years, from port tenders, the optimization of the logistics chain, and also, articulation with the community. These are quite relevant for all upcoming challenges."
Juan Pablo Bravo, Valparaíso office manager of Medlog and recently elected Folovap board member, highlighted that "the port tender is coming. So, what presents itself as a challenge means opportunities for us, opportunities for growth, to reposition Valparaíso, together with the members of the logistics community, as a highly competitive port within the region."
"This logistics forum is precisely dedicated to giving greater productivity to the port system, and to avoid congestion, especially in the ports. I believe that this forum has led today to an understanding, because wills act, no one is obliged to do anything, which is why we have come to have a tremendous logistics forum. Very robust and that has solved problems, especially the issue of social peace. I believe that here, in Valparaíso, it is relevant to have sheltered waters and the time that, obviously, we have today of productivity in the port terminals," specified Iván Mateluna, president of Fedequinta and Folovap board member.
