Davies Turner, one of the UK's largest independent freight forwarding and logistics providers, is offering a new seasonal full container load (FCL) shipping service between China and the UK via the North Sea Route, utilizing sailings provided by the shipping company Sea Legend.
The new Davies Turner Polar Silk Road service, which will operate between August and October 2026, will offer importers an attractive alternative to conventional sea, rail, and air transport.
With an almost weekly frequency, the service will offer a 21-day transit time from Ningbo to Felixstowe, significantly reducing delivery times compared to traditional sea freight, while being more cost-effective than rail and air services.
This seasonal program has been developed to help companies improve their supply chain agility during the peak shipping season, providing a faster maritime solution without the additional cost associated with air transport.
This service will allow Davies Turner to consolidate cargo from six major Chinese ports, including Dalian, Fuzhou, Nansha, Qingdao, Shanghai, and Taicang (Ningbo), before sailing directly to Felixstowe. From there, containers will be efficiently distributed to destinations throughout the UK and Europe via Davies Turner's logistics network.
Unlike conventional services between the Far East and Europe, which transit through the Suez Canal or around the Cape of Good Hope, the Polar Silk Road travels via the Northern Sea Route, drastically shortening the sailing distance and reducing total transit times during the Arctic shipping season.
This launch is part of Davies Turner's ongoing investment in its China origin network and reinforces the company's commitment to providing innovative multimodal transport solutions that enable customers to optimize both transit times and transport costs.
The Polar Silk Road service will operate on an eight-week sailing schedule during the Arctic shipping season, from August to October 2026.
