UK Will Rebid Offshore Wind Lease Setting a Critical Test for the Sector
The UK's Crown Estate announced a new competitive tender for the Morgan offshore wind lease in the Irish Sea after EnBW and JERA Nex BP withdrew, citing the project as no longer economically viable. The 1.5 GW project, originally awarded in 2021, will be rebid with a decision expected in late 2026. The new tender is seen as a key test of market willingness to proceed with offshore wind projects amid changing economics.
