Valenciaport and the Port of Ningbo have supported the signing of a pioneering agreement between MSC, Senior Auto, China Waterborne Transport Research Institute, and the Valenciaport Foundation for the practical activation of the green corridor between the two ports, linked to MSC's Jade service.
The initiative was also endorsed with the presence of the Shanghai commercial office of Mineco and Puertos del Estado, within the framework of the Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum held in Ningbo, where the president of the Port Authority also participated in various institutional meetings and high-level panels. Valenciaport has acted as a witness and promoter of an alliance that moves from the phase of intentions to a detailed analysis of the practical case, to define the objectives to be met by the different actors in the logistics and maritime chain to reduce emissions.
This milestone marks the operational start of the green corridor and establishes an open and flexible structure to continue incorporating new participants. China Waterborne Transport Research Institute and the Valenciaport Foundation will contribute their scientific knowledge to calculate the carbon footprint, among other things.
China continues to be Valenciaport's main commercial partner in both container traffic and total volume of goods. The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan is also one of the world's leading maritime logistics hubs and a strategic enclave within trade routes between Asia and Europe.
So far this year, Valenciaport's exchanges with the Asian country have exceeded 3.3 million tons, 23.78% more than in the same period of 2025. In TEUs, traffic reached 308,206 units, with an increase of 25.25%.
