The crane specialization company Kalmar reported that three electric straddle carriers were recently delivered to Finnsteve Oy Ab, an operator working within the framework of Vuosaari Port operations in Helsinki, Finland.
According to information provided by the parties, the new machines will support Finnsteve's ambition to minimize CO2 emissions from its port operations, "while maintaining high operational efficiency," as stated by the Finnish operator.
For its part, Kalmar detailed that the delivery also includes the dispatch of its own Kalmar FastCharge hands-free fast charging system. This advancement helps recipients ensure minimal downtime caused by the charging time of the units' batteries, and smooth operation of the cranes newly delivered to the Finnish company.
The range of eco-efficient Kalmar electric straddle carriers, powered by the latest and powerful lithium-ion battery technology, produces zero emissions at source and can operate as a comprehensive solution in any type of yard or as a transshipment system between the quay and its stacks. CCS charging comes standard, or you can choose the faster optional Megawatt Charging System (MCS) plug-in charging system, or the hands-free Kalmar FastCharge system, which was chosen by Finnsteve.
Finnsteve is a Finland-based port operator that is part of Finnlines and the multinational logistics provider Grimaldi Group.
