Attack on Ships in Damietta: Egypt Activates Alternative Energy Sources

Egypt has secured alternative sources to cover its energy demand after a drone attack caused damage to two vessels in the Port of Damietta, as reported by Egyptian Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly.

For his part, Oil Minister, Karim Badawi, stated that Egypt has four Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRU), in addition to a fifth vessel docked in the Jordanian port of Aqaba which both countries share.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident, which occurred near the Suez Canal, a route that has become the latest safe evacuation route for Saudi oil to global markets.

"Authorities continue with investigations and are taking necessary measures to safeguard Egypt's national security," the Egyptian Cabinet communicated.

Three commercial sector sources - aware of the incident - indicated that the drone struck the floating storage vessel Energos Winter, causing a fire that spread to another vessel, the Gaslog Salem.
