During the latest session of the San Antonio Logistics Community (Colsa) Sustainability Committee, 13 of the 17 member companies were recognized for fulfilling their commitments under the Clean Production Agreement (CPA) for the seventh consecutive year, an agreement first signed in 2016.
Colsa's CPA, which strengthens the sustainability of port logistics operations through environmental management committed to the environment, was one of the first instruments of its kind in Chile and the only one to cover the entire logistics chain, serving as a reference for other ports in the country. Through this process, participating companies incorporated improvements related to waste management, energy efficiency, emissions measurement, good environmental practices, and community engagement.
Pilar Larraín, General Manager of Colsa, explained that with this recognition, "we mark a milestone with the companies that signed the first Clean Production Agreement, because they met the involved goals for the seventh consecutive year. A second CPA for the logistics community is being prepared, which will allow other member companies to join, with more ambitious goals related to reducing environmental impact, shared value plans, gender equity, water and energy efficiency, carbon footprint reduction; a series of measures that make this logistics chain associated with the port of San Antonio more sustainable and friendly to the community and the environment."
Andrés Albertini, Vice President of Colsa and General Manager of San Antonio Terminal Internacional (STI), highlighted that "this session of the Sustainability Committee was very positive because it served to recognize those who have complied and also to analyze the upcoming challenges. Colsa's CPA has been consolidated, and we are very happy because it is clear that the various associated companies are eager to renew the agreement to continue with this process."
From Puerto San Antonio, a company that achieved 100% compliance with its commitments during the last year, the recognition and the continuity of this joint work were also valued. "Consuelo Cánaves, Sustainability and Public Affairs Manager, stated, "This achievement reflects the permanent work of our company and its teams to strengthen sustainable practices and promote initiatives associated with waste management, energy efficiency, emissions registration, and community relations, actions that are key to moving towards an operation increasingly aware of its environment and the future challenges of the port system."
