Saudi-flagged tankers Encelia and Layla targeted by Houthi attacks in Red Sea

Houthi militants have claimed to have hit two Saudi-flagged vessels, the Encelia and the Layla, with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones on 22 July. They claim that the vessels were attacked for "violating the blockade" that it has imposed on Saudi ports since 20 July.

Saudi news outlet SPA have confirmed the attack on the Encelia, stating that the crew was rescued.
SPA reported that the Saudi Arabian-flagged oil tanker Encelia was attacked, with a fire breaking out on the vessel's bow. The report added that the crew was rescued and the vessel had been secured to prevent environmental damage.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) also reported at 20:00 UTC on 22 July a vessel near 70 nautical miles southwest of Al Shuqaia in the Red Sea being hit by an unknown projectile which ignited a fire. UKMTO confirmed that no casualties or environmental impact had been reported.

Houthi claims Layla also caught fire, however this attack has largely remained unconfirmed.
