Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes on Houthi rebel targets in Yemen's Hodeidah, after the Houthis attacked Saudi vessels, including NCC Masa, in the Red Sea.

According to the Saudi news media, coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki described the airstrikes as a "proportionate military response" targeting Houthi military sites allegedly used to threaten merchant vessels.
On 24 July, the Saudi-flagged NCC Masa was attacked in the Red Sea. The vessel crew remained safe, with no injuries reported, while the vessel sustained minor damage, allowing it to continue its journey.
Earlier, on 22 July, Houthis claimed to have targeted the Saudi-flagged tankers Encelia and Layla with ballistic and cruise missiles and drones in the Red Sea. Encelia was hit and caught fire at its bow. All crew were rescued and no injuries were reported. However, the claim of attack and fire aboard Layla has largely remained unconfirmed.
