Including the Montreal Port Authority (MPA), several institutions collaborated in an operation that disrupted a shipment of stolen cars, an action celebrated by the MPA.
The City of Montréal Police, the Canada Border Services Agency, and the Ontario Provincial Police participated in the operation.
"Car thefts fell by 25% in 2025 compared to the previous year. The collaboration between the police and the various stakeholders is bearing fruit. Efforts to support national initiatives to address this problem continue," stated the MPA.
The coordinated operation led to the interception of 39 stolen vehicles at the Port of Montreal. Most were SUVs or luxury cars, and six were seized in a commercial building in Anjou, thanks to evidence collected at the port. Police questioned 47 truck drivers and issued 21 on-the-spot fines during the operation, named WINN.
