29 Cruise Ships to Call at Puerto Plata During August

The Dominican Republic will receive 29 cruise ship calls through Puerto Plata during the month of August. The Dominican Port Authority stated that the schedule consolidates the country as one of the main cruise destinations in the Caribbean.

According to the arrival calendar, 15 calls are scheduled for the Amber Cove terminal and 14 for Taíno Bay, reaffirming Puerto Plata's position as the country's main recipient of international tourist vessels during the month.

The schedule includes vessels from Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Princess Cruises, and Celebrity Cruises. Likewise, August 5th, 18th, and 19th will be the busiest days, with three cruise ships operating simultaneously, which will strengthen the province's tourism and commercial dynamics.

Among the vessels with the highest frequency of visits are the NCL Luna, with five scheduled calls; the Caribbean Princess, with four; and the Carnival Mardi Gras and Carnival Vista ships, with three arrivals each, reflecting the preference of important international shipping companies for the Puerto Plata destination.

Apordom highlighted that this schedule takes on special relevance as it occurs during the low season for the cruise industry in the Caribbean, a period that coincides with summer and hurricane season, when the frequency of itineraries in the region traditionally decreases.

The executive director of Apordom, Jean Luis Rodríguez, emphasized that this schedule demonstrates the confidence that major shipping companies maintain in Dominican ports and the institution's commitment to the continuous strengthening of the national port infrastructure.

"Receiving 29 cruise calls in Puerto Plata during August demonstrates the confidence that the main cruise lines continue to place in the Dominican Republic.
