(12:30 p.m. EDT) — Scenic Group will make its debut in India in 2027 with itineraries in the Hooghly River and land journey programs across North India, South India, Rajasthan, and Sri Lanka.
The voyages will take place aboard the new Scenic Aura, the cruise line's 44-passenger ship that was originally launched in 2016 to sail Myanmar's Irrawaddy River. The ship will be redesigned by Scenic Group's team at MKM Yachts and details of the interior revitalization will be released later this year.
The cruise line will offer five new itineraries from 17-25 days, anchored by a nine-night all-inclusive Lower Ganges cruise along the Hooghly River.
The itineraries will feature Scenic Enrich experiences, including an elegant High Tea at Kathgola Palace in Murshidabad and a visit to the Hooghly Imambara, celebrated for its spiritual resonance and Mughal‑influenced architecture. Passengers will also meet master craftspeople in Matiari's artisan quarter and travel by traditional toto to Katra Mosque, among other experiences.
"The introduction of Scenic Aura on India's Hooghly River is a significant milestone for Scenic Group with the collection developed entirely around what our guests are asking for," said Adam Burke, Scenic Journey Designer. "These itineraries have been thoughtfully designed to provide unique and exclusive experiences that are culturally rich and showcase the best of India and Sri Lanka, all delivered with the depth of inclusions and personalized service Scenic is known for."
Scenic Group's expansion into India reflects the cruise company's broader investment in Asian destinations. Following Scenic Aura's redeployment to the Hooghly River, Scenic Spirit II will join Scenic Spirit on the Mekong River in 2028, while Scenic Eclipse II will return to Asia and Oceania, and Emerald Xara is scheduled to arrive in Asia.
