MSC Group is calling its beach destination off the coast of La Romana, Dominican Republic Catalina Sugar Beach. It is set to open in November.
As earlier reported, this is an an enhancement of the Catalina Island offerings in a partnership between MSC's CTL Maritime and Casa de Campo Resort & Villas. It will be available to passengers from MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, as well as Casa de Campo Resort & Villas guests.
MSC Cruises begins weekly sailings from its new La Romana homeport in November with MSC Opera calling at the new Sugar Beach destination on every itinerary.
Shore excursions will include a catamaran exploration, snorkeling, boat trips to Isla Saona Island and visits to the nearby Cave of Wonders and Altos de Chavón, a recreated 16th-century Mediterranean village.
An open-air beach pavilion buffet, two bars, a watersports center and rental cabanas will be available, along with a picturesque pathway to a dramatic viewpoint with educational signage along the route.
Changing, shower and restroom facilities across the island will be upgraded.
