PSA Singapore (PSA) reached a milestone after handling 25 million TEUs at Tuas Port since it began operations in September 2022. According to the company, this achievement reflected the expansion of operations at the fully automated container terminal and underscored the growing importance of the port facility as a key node in global trade.
According to the company, the facility remains a gateway considered fundamental for resilient, reliable, and efficient cargo flows. As a key pillar of PSA Group's "Node to Network" strategy, it connects PSA's transshipment capabilities in Singapore with the holding company's global port ecosystem network.
Ong Kim Pong, CEO of PSA International Group, noted that "given the increasing complexity of global trade patterns, strong coordination between ports and supply chain nodes has become more essential than ever. The integrated port ecosystem of Tuas Port, designed to ensure the long-term sustainability of supply chains, optimizes terminal and logistics services so that our customers can transport goods with greater agility, resilience, and confidence."
"Guided by responsible management, we will continue to strengthen the Group's port ecosystem network, leveraging innovation and digitalization to drive trade flows beyond Singapore, while reinforcing Singapore's position as the world's leading transshipment hub," Ong indicated.
Nelson Quek, Regional CEO for Southeast Asia at PSA International, commented that "this significant achievement was possible thanks to the trust and strong collaboration of our customers, partners, and unions, along with the collective effort and dedication of our staff."
"I am equally proud of our colleagues, whose perseverance and joint effort have allowed us to overcome challenges and seize new opportunities. Looking ahead, we will continue to work hand in hand to forge the next chapter of Singapore's maritime journey," Quek stated.
Tuas Port currently has 14 operational berths and is on track to reach 18 by 2027. PSA emphasized that it continues to drive sustainable and smart technologies to elevate operational, service, and environmental excellence standards.
