Marella Cruises has introduced nine new shore excursions across its Mediterranean itineraries, expanding the range of immersive experiences available to passengers. The new offerings span iconic destinations in Greece and Italy, combining cultural exploration with culinary and scenic adventures.
CEO Statement and Program Vision
Chris Hackney, CEO of Marella Cruises, stated: "We're always looking for new ways to help our customers experience destinations more meaningfully." He further noted: "By expanding our Mediterranean excursion program, we're offering even more opportunities to explore iconic locations across Greece and Italy through unique, immersive experiences, from discovering Athens through its flavors to taking in Sardinia by tuk-tuk."
Hackney emphasized that the new excursions align with Marella Discovery 2's sailings from Palma this summer, designed to provide passengers with greater choice and memorable shore experiences.
Booking and Availability
According to the company, the new excursions can be purchased onboard each ship at the Destinations Services desk or through Cruise Control before guests board their cruise.

The Essence of Olbia by Tuk-Tuk
This experience allows guests to explore Olbia in an authentic tuk-tuk, visiting the historic center and notable landmarks including the granite-built Basilica of San Simplicio, the Church of San Paolo, and Parco Fausto Noce. Pre-booked pricing: £68 per adult and £68 per child.
Pompeii, Ravello & Amalfi – Scenic Minivan Tour
A small-group minivan tour departing from Naples covers three iconic southern Italian destinations in a single day. The itinerary includes Pompeii, Ravello, and Amalfi. Pre-booked pricing: £144 per adult and £104 per child.
A Taste of Athens
This relaxed walking and tasting tour begins with a city drive from Piraeus, showcasing ancient landmarks and grand squares before arriving in the capital. Guests explore Plaka and sample traditional Greek cuisine, including savory Greek pies, classic Greek coffee, loukoumi, and freshly made souvlaki. Pre-booked pricing: £64 per adult and £34 per child.
Package Cruise Option
Marella Cruises also offers a seven-night "Treasures of the Mediterranean" round cruise on an all-inclusive basis with TUI Airways. The cruise departs from Palma, Majorca, aboard Marella Discovery 2, with pricing starting from £1,498 per person.
