Emerald Cruises held the ceremonial water launch of the Emerald Lumi, its new Emerald Star ship, on July 2, 2026.
The 110-meter ship was purpose-built for the Seine River in Romania in partnership with MKM Yachts.
Accommodating 130 guests, it will feature spacious staterooms and suites with all-weather balconies, along with social spaces including restaurants, bars, and a heated indoor pool that transforms into an evening cinema, the company said in a social media update.
"Emerald Lumi's water launch is an exciting step in bringing a fresh style of river cruising to the Seine," said Vice President, River Cruise Product at Scenic Group, Elisabeth Sadler.
"By combining extended overnight stays in key ports with curated local history and culinary experiences, plus a choice of active EmeraldACTIVE excursions, this new itinerary offers a more immersive, unhurried way to explore northern France than many traditional river itineraries."
The Emerald Lumi is set to debut on the Seine in 2027.
From March 2027, she will cruise the new eight-day "Sensations of the Seine & Normandy" itinerary, round-trip from Paris to Honfleur. Guests will spend extended time in port with overnight stays and later departures in destinations including Honfleur and La Roche-Guyon.
Each day will include a guided tour and EmeraldACTIVE options, such as guided e-bike rides, hikes or kayaking.
For history lovers, there is the "In the footsteps of Claude Monet" included experience in Giverny and a full-day guided tour of the Normandy D-Day landing sites.
Food and wine enthusiasts can look forward to included experiences such as a walking tour of Honfleur with fresh oyster tasting.
