The 2027 Danube vessel named for Rudi Schreiner builds on 2019's spacious AmaMagna with some new areas.
June 24, 2026
New AmaWaterways' renderings of its upcoming double-wide Danube River vessel, AmaRudi, show several innovations compared to 2019's AmaMagna.
The Studio, for one, is an entertainment area designed as a social hub, with a cinema, karaoke, billiards and a jukebox. The lower deck space is fully soundproofed.
And dining will be at the heart of the experience, with multiple options, ranging from Journeys Restaurant and The Chef's Table to alfresco dining experiences and the intimate Rudi's Wine Bar, a gathering place near The Studio that's inspired by AmaWaterways co-founder and Chairman Rudi Schreiner's passion for wine and European culture.
The entire vessel honors Schreiner, who helped shape the modern river cruise industry and grew up in Austria near the Danube.
"AmaMagna changed what travelers believed was possible on a river cruise ship," Schreiner said. "We knew there would be a right time to revisit that concept, and with river cruising continuing to grow, that time is now. More travelers are making the transition from ocean cruising to rivers, and many are looking for a sense of space and choice."
Schreiner called AmaMagna "one of the most rewarding projects of my career, so having this new ship carry my name makes it especially meaningful. I see it as part of the legacy we have built together over more than two decades of river cruising."
At 22/meters72 feet wide and 135 meters/443 feet long, AmaRudi will carry up to 196 passengers in 98 staterooms and suites, providing an extraordinary amount of personal space along with the multiple dining venues, expansive wellness facilities and ample public areas.
The design blends contemporary elegance with subtle historical references inspired by the cities and cultures found along the Danube.
The dining experience includes complimentary beer, soft drinks and a selection of more than 30 wines available during lunch and dinner, as well as new Italian lunch menus served in The Chef's Table. A built-in Deck Club barbecue on the Sun Deck further expands the dining options.
In a large aft area, the Spa comes with massage treatment rooms and hair and nail services, alongside a dedicated fitness center.
Guided by AmaWaterways' wellness hosts, passengers can take part in fitness classes and wellness programming on board and ashore. The Sun Deck also features a full-size pickleball court.
As with all new AmaWaterways vessels, sustainability will play an important role in AmaRudi's design and operation. Features include advanced Stage V engines, solar panels, shore power connectivity, spud poles for secure anchorage and lightweight construction materials designed to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
AmaRudi's inaugural sailing is scheduled for April 11, 2027 from Vilshofen, Germany to Budapest.
