The Ecuadorian National Police successfully seized 1.08 tons of cocaine at the facilities of Puerto Bolívar. The drug was destined for England.
According to the police institution, the illicit substances were found in a banana shipment in the early hours of July 2, just as they were preparing to depart from the aforementioned maritime station.
Furthermore, it was reported that "the procedure was carried out during a technical inspection prior to embarkation. Specialized police officers detected anomalies in two pallets of palletized bananas, leading them to conduct a thorough review of the cargo."
Regarding the valuation of the cargo, it was specified that "according to technical analysis, this intervention represents an approximate economic impact of USD 3,318,050,000 on criminal structures. Likewise, approximately 1,327,220,000 doses of narcotic substances were removed from the illegal market, preventing their distribution and commercialization in consumer markets."
During the operation, an adult male transporting the substances in a truck was arrested and placed at the disposal of Ecuadorian justice for violating the Drug Law.
