Ecuador recorded growth in banana exports during the first half of 2026, consolidating the performance of one of its main export products. The European Union, Russia, and the Middle East remained among the most dynamic markets for Ecuadorian fruit.
The increase in shipments was driven by international demand during the first months of the year, although a moderation in the export pace was observed by June. Climatic factors, logistical challenges, port congestion, and limitations in container availability affected export operations.
The performance of the banana sector reaffirms the importance of strengthening logistical infrastructure and supply chain efficiency to sustain international competitiveness. Improved operational conditions will favor the continuity of foreign trade and and the access of Ecuadorian products to key international markets.
