Woolpert and Chance Maritime Conduct First Fully Uncrewed Offshore Hydrographic Survey Off Florida's Gulf Coast
Woolpert is conducting its first fully uncrewed offshore hydrographic survey for NOAA, deploying Chance Maritime's uncrewed survey vessels equipped with multibeam sonar to map deep-sea corals and ocean habitats off Pensacola, Florida. The mission will collect 1,391 square nautical miles of high-resolution hydrographic survey data over approximately 11,000 linear nautical miles. The project aims to fill gaps in seafloor mapping data in the Gulf of America and support restoration of marine communities damaged during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
