The multi-union CPC Bio Bio reported that it awarded the "Best Company 2026" Prize to the DP World terminal in Lirquén. The recognition highlights the company that stands out for its talent, innovation, and contribution to the economic and social development of the Bio Bio Region.
Álvaro Ananías, president of CPC Bio Bio, said that "this recognition of DP World Lirquén, which is one of the logistical engines connecting Bio Bio with the world and has historically always generated quality jobs for hundreds of families, reaffirms its comprehensive commitment to sustainability, economic development, and the social well-being of its commune and the region. At the same time, as a multi-union, we recognize the active role it played and continues to play in helping the commune of Lirquén recover after the forest fires in January of this year."
"The company's response during this tragedy was immediate, agile, and profoundly human. From day one, it set up temporary shelters with beds, showers, and dining rooms, installed distribution points for food, clothing, and tools, activated comprehensive support, and opened a collection center for the entire affected community. It also provided a voluntary fund to support the reconstruction of destroyed homes and build new homes on workers' land," added the head of the regional organization.
Álvaro Ananías added that "this swift and humane action sets a precedent in the business history of the Region on how to face this type of crisis, from a Port that is loved by its community and that cared for the families of Lirquén in one of the most difficult moments we have ever seen."
Michael Spoerer, general manager of DP World in Lirquén, expressed that "we receive this 'Best Company 2026' Award with great pride and humility, which recognizes our capacity for overcoming challenges, our sense of excellence, and our deep commitment to the Bio Bio Region, its people, and its development."
"We thank the CPC Bio Bio for this award and its permanent support - also from day one during the recent fires - which recognizes our commitment to rebuilding our workers' homes after the devastating fires suffered in Lirquén, in alliances with the main exporters of the south-central zone to consolidate our logistical leadership and regional competitiveness, and in improvements in infrastructure and services for neighbors, always reflecting what DP World is as a global operator of logistical solutions," Spoerer stated.
