Thailand Orders Two C-295 Maritime Surveillance Aircraft to Secure Gulf Waters
Thailand has ordered two C-295 maritime surveillance aircraft to be based at U-Tapao near Pattaya and operated by the Royal Thai Navy, following February clashes when approximately 25 Cambodian fishing boats intruded one nautical mile into Thai waters off Koh Kut and Koh Klang. The move fulfills election promises by Prime Minister General Anutin Charnvirakul to strengthen defenses amid escalating tensions with Cambodia over disputed border areas and territorial waters in the Gulf of Thailand.
