The Panama Canal published Amendment No. 2 to the Prequalification Document for the Corozal and Telfers container transshipment port terminals initiative, as part of the process the organization is advancing for the selection of concessionaires.
The prequalification process for this initiative began with the publication of the document on January 30, 2026, and was subsequently updated through Amendment No. 1 published on March 30, 2026.
The new amendment incorporates modifications aimed at optimizing the process and offering greater precision to interested companies, taking into consideration queries and observations received during this stage.
Among the main changes are adjustments to the document review mechanism, clarifications on the participation and formation of consortia, adjustments to the documentation of individuals related to the corporate structure of the proponent, updates related to guarantees, as well as the incorporation of annexes associated with transparency standards, compliance with legal policies, and prevention of conflicts of interest.
Likewise, a new period for submitting clarification requests has been enabled until June 8, 2026, and the deadline for submitting prequalification documents has been extended until June 29, 2026.
The documentation submitted by interested parties will continue to be evaluated according to the technical, financial, and legal criteria established in the prequalification document and its amendments.
The Corozal and Telfers container transshipment port terminals initiative seeks to strengthen the country's logistical and labor connectivity, promoting complementary capacities to the operation of the Panama Canal and responding to opportunities identified in trade and existing needs to develop a competitive port system.
