Uruguay: Port of Nueva Palmira Completes Disembarkation and Launch of New Dredger for Waterway

The Port of Nueva Palmira was the scene of the disembarkation and launch of the DRM – 5 Paraguay dredger, which will be towed to Paraguay. The vessel is part of a USD 20 million aid package aimed at improving the navigability of the Paraguay River, financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The dredger is 64 meters long, 12 meters wide, has a 7-foot draft, and a suction capacity of 1,500 m3 per hour.
