Five Hybrid Tugs Join the Panama Canal Fleet

The Panama Canal has added five hybrid tugboats—Isla Farallón, Isla Cébaco, Isla Cañas, Isla Coiba, and Isla Boná—to its operational fleet. These vessels combine diesel engines, electric motors, and batteries to optimize energy consumption and reduce emissions. Administrator Ricaurte Vásquez Morales highlighted the commitment to cleaner and more sustainable operations.
