Inmarsat's fully managed multi-network connectivity service is facilitating fleetwide digital transformation for a growing cohort of Greek ship owners and managers.

Inmarsat Maritime, a Viasat company, is supporting the Greek shipping industry's digital transformation through its fully managed multi-network service, NexusWave. Rather than switching between networks, NexusWave intelligently bonds them – integrating low Earth orbit capacity with Global Xpress Ka-band, LTE, and resilient L-band – in a single, convenient solution provided by a trusted maritime connectivity partner.
In addition to download speeds of up to 340 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 80 Mbps – as verified in sea trials – Inmarsat's innovative network-bonding approach delivers global coverage and availability exceeding 99.9%. Antonis Alogakos, Roswell Tankers' IT Officer, said: "The increasing complexity of connectivity demands in modern maritime operations require multi-orbit networks that work in harmony, such as Inmarsat's NexusWave – whose orchestration of various networks provides the speed, reliability, and global coverage that ship owners, managers, and operators increasingly rely on."
For all the opportunities that maritime digitalisation presents, it also raises cyber-security concerns by increasing the number of shipboard attack surfaces. NexusWave addresses this issue through its secure-by-design infrastructure, which delivers four layers of real-time protection against progressively more sophisticated cyber-attacks and is trusted by governments and enterprises worldwide.
