Fire Contained on Tanker Anchored Off Chattogram Port
A fire broke out aboard the Bangladesh-flagged crude oil tanker Meghna Trader while anchored off Chattogram Port's outer anchorage on 28 May at around 7:30 am local time. The blaze erupted in the engine room of the partially laden vessel en route from Dumai, Indonesia. After hours of firefighting involving port, navy, and coast guard authorities, the fire was successfully brought under control at 11:30 am. No injuries among the 22 crewmembers were reported.
