Chile Approves $4.45 Billion 'Outer Port' Expansion at San Antonio
Chile's Valparaiso Region Environmental Assessment Commission unanimously approved the $4.45 billion 'Puerto Exterior' expansion at the Port of San Antonio. The mega port project, implemented by EPSA, will feature a 4-kilometer breakwater, two semi-automated container terminals of 1,730 meters each, and handle up to 6 million TEU annually. The first phase, with 1.5 million TEU capacity, is expected to enter service around 2036, backed by a public-private partnership with EPSA investing $1.95 billion and private operators contributing $2.5 billion.
