The Port of Piraeus (Greece) received a visit from a delegation of port and shipbuilding organizations from Israel. The delegation led the exhibition called "Mare MED III Athens 2026 International Conference" with the aim of strengthening Greco-Israeli cooperation relations in maritime transport operations.
Details of the event were provided on the Greek maritime station's website, stating that "during the meeting, there was a fruitful exchange of views on the prospects for cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean, port infrastructure, the connectivity of trade corridors, and new investment opportunities emerging in the region."
"Emphasis was placed on the prospects offered by the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), a strategic initiative that seeks to improve connectivity between India, the Middle East, and Europe. In this context, Greece and Israel are emerging as key partners and gateways for transit trade and innovation in the Eastern Mediterranean, where ports play a decisive role in shaping new supply chains and trade flows.
Finally, it was reported that "during the meeting and the subsequent visit to the port facilities, the shared intention to continue developing synergies in the field of port development was reaffirmed, with the aim of strengthening economic cooperation and stability in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region," the statement concluded.
